Inspired by starling’s flight, harp-artist @Alondra Máynez and I developed the concept for this audiovisual piece. The video heavily resembles the starling’s murmurations, and the beautiful and eerie shapes they create in the sky. Each murmuration is different from the other, yet they all share some haunting and beautiful characteristics.
I developed various computer generated forms of ‘murmuration’ in which different digital objects are forced to act as a group, often reacting to Alondra’s Harp. These ‘murmurations’ evolve, grow, and lose control. The digital, soothing and overall quiet movements are interrupted by the eclectic electronic production of the track that accompany the beautiful, organic harp sounds. This is both shown sonically as well as visually throughout the video.
