memory [ˈmɛməri] & identity [aɪˈdɛntɪti]
‘scenes from a memory’ is an audiovisual project developed by Latin American artists residing in Berlin. The proposal seeks to preserve and reactivate the cultural memory of Mexico and Colombia through a sensory experience that integrates sound and image, establishing a bridge between the territories of origin and the European space from which the project is produced. It stems from the migrant experience and the need to keep alive the link with the landscapes, traditions, and everyday scenes of Latin America. Through experimental music, sound design, and audiovisual creation, the project proposes a contemporary form of cultural preservation that moves away from the traditional documentary approach and situates itself in a poetic and reflective terrain.
‘scenes from memory’ seeks to generate spaces for reflection on memory, territory, and belonging, while strengthening the dialogue between Latin America and Europe from a contemporary artistic perspective.
sound [saʊnd] & vision [vɪʒᵊn]
The project is structured in through different tracks or scenes, traversing the artist's' personal experiences, crossing collective planes, and culminating in a speculative approach. Through this narrative, the project encourages different ways of connecting with spaces, times and people who remain, but are not left behind. The project proposes to create and strengthen cultural ties and roots.
Visually each track draws from personal images from our homes, playing with the visual footage to blur boundaries between memories and fabrications. We collected both sounds and images pertaining to colombia mexico and berlin to create a constant dialogue between the different places. Creating bonds and bridges between different cultures.
