PULSE: warp x common sense

I developed an audiovisual show for a set with the Mexican artist @Techno Para Dos, which was presented in the PULSE series of live sets from @WARP magazine and @COMMON SENSE Records. The audiovisual show is developed in an audio reactive manner. I was able to create a world specifically tailored for the music developed by the Mexican artist.

The visuals were adapted to the imagery of Techno para dos’ EP HOPE, keeping most of the black and white aesthetic, interrupting it with some touches of a highly saturated deep blue. This blue tone serves to break the monotony of the black and white palette, much like the glitchy / electronic aspects of the producer's set.

The audio-visual journey takes the spectator on a variety of states going from the gloomy, to the enlightened. Through many different sounds, shapes, and figures the abstract journey is completed with a feeling of content, a calm after the storm of sorts.

The process served as an exploration of different languages and its translation from one medium to another. The sonic language of the piece served as the starting point, by defining the visual language we gave specific characteristics to the sound. While creating it we developed a list of adjectives and verbs describing each section, which then were the basis for the visual scenes. Through this process we defined each scene, while also maintaining an abstract and generative aspect to each of them.
